FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid - children and infants (RQF) - 1 day

Fully compliant with the Health & Safety Executive code of practice. Valid for 3 years.

A Level 3 First Aid course designed for those who have an interest in child and baby Basic Life Support governed by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or OFSTED. This course covers life-threatening conditions including CPR, bleeding control and choking.

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations.

The objective of this qualification is to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively respond to various Paediatric First Aid scenarios.

Participants will gain an understanding of key concepts, including the recognition and management of common injuries and illnesses in children, ensuring they are prepared to provide appropriate assistance in emergency situations.

Learners will develop confidence in their ability to act swiftly and effectively, ultimately contributing to the safety and well-being of young individuals in their care.

Course content

A range of subjects are covered including:

• Role of the Paediatric First Aider

• Seizure

• Primary survey

• Choking

• Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)

• Minor injuries

• Wounds, bleeding and shock

• Recovery position

Assessment

The qualification is assessed both through practical demonstration and oral questioning. A learner must successfully pass a practical assessment to achieve the qualification.

There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred.

Please note, as part of this qualification, attendees will be observed performing CPR on a manikin.

It is important to understand that this task must be carried out on the floor, requiring attendees to kneel.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive an FAA L3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, fully regulated and valid for three years.

All courses come with E-certificates and paper certificates.

1 Day course. 6 hrs contact time, excluding breaks.

We are able to accommodate up to 12 learners on this course.

Courses can be delivered in-house, at a location of your choice, or a venue arranged by us.

We are also able to provide essential regulatory workplace policies, Health and Safety Executive compliance documents and can conduct a full workplace review outlining recommendations for First Aid provision, if required.
