Paediatric Emergency First Aid (children and infants) - 90+ minutes

This short course is specifically tailored for parents, carers, family members, and anyone involved in the care of children. Its primary aim is to enhance confidence when responding to critical first-aid emergencies concerning young people and infants.

Participants will gain essential skills and knowledge that can make a significant difference in emergency situations. The training covers critical topics, including CPR, choking hazards, and common injuries among children. By the end of the course, attendees will be better equipped to act swiftly and effectively, providing peace of mind to both caregivers and parents alike.

Through a combination of (optional) practical exercises and scenario-based learning, participants acquire skills essential for effective action in high-pressure situations.

This training enhances individual readiness. By empowering individuals with the ability to take decisive action, this course plays a crucial role in potentially saving young lives in emergency situations.

On successful completion of the short course, learners will acquire essential skills and knowledge necessary to provide emergency first aid to young people and infants effectively.

This training will empower participants with the confidence required to manage medical emergencies involving children, ensuring that they can respond promptly and safely in high-pressure situations.

Course content

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Resuscitation (CPR and rescue breaths)

  • Seizures

  • Choking

  • Serious wounds

  • Burns and scalds

  • Recovery Position

Although focusing on emergency First Aid, we offer the flexibility to tailor and extend session times to cover additional topics upon consultation. If you have a group interested in concentrating on specific areas, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

PLEASE NOTE:

Some topics may be sensitive to individuals, and certain discussions can potentially trigger upset. It is essential to communicate any concerns to the trainer in advance (preferably via email) so that appropriate measures can be taken to ensure a supportive and safe learning environment for all participants. Early notification allows trainers to adapt their approach and content effectively, fostering a more comfortable and productive experience.

Assessment

There is no assessment aspect to this short course. However, we would like to ensure participants are able to administer CPR effectively, so would encourage participants to try resuscitation protocols using one of our manikins.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of attendance, outlining the content covered.

Duration

1.5 / 2 hours

Please note: groups may choose to enhance their training by incorporating additional practice sessions that utilise both child and baby manikins. This adjustment will extend the duration of the session from 90 minutes to a total of 2 hours.

We are able to accommodate up to 12 learners on this course.

Location

Courses can be delivered in-house, at a location of your choice, or a venue arranged by us.

We are able to supply a projector and screen if TV, smartboard, etc is unavailable.

Included

Costs of bandages, manikin face-shields, lungs, and any other resources used are included in course fee.

We have a small selection of recommended First Aid booklets and books available to purchase.
